Newly re-elected MP Greg Barker headed to Heathfield last Friday in a bid to deepen his understanding of local issues.

Greg began the day with a visit to Heathfield Community College, classified ‘outstanding’ in 22 out of 27 categories in their most recent OFSTED report. Headmaster Alan Powell showed Greg around the College where he met students preparing for summer exams. The MP then sat down with Mr Powell to learn more about the school, its pupils and the challenges it faces in the future.

Speaking from Heathfield, Greg said:

“Heathfield is lucky to have such an excellent Community College and I look forward to reinforcing the role of head teachers and parents in running local schools.”

Greg then went on to hold a surgery at the town Community Centre after recent boundary changes brought Heathfield within his constituency.
