Greg keeps promise to step up Landfill fight
28 May 2010
Town MP Greg Barker pledged this week to keep the campaign against landfill at Ashdown Brickworks firmly on the boil.
Greg listed the anti-landfill campaign as a top priority during his election campaign, but with the election now out of the way he met BALI representatives Nick Hollington, Diane Cheeseman and Iva Barnes on Friday to discuss their next moves.
Greg helped set up the BALI group in 2001 to fight against the proposals for landfill at Turkey Road in Bexhill, a site bordered by a cemetery and close to the new Bexhill High School.
Speaking from Bexhill, Greg said:
“BALI goes from strength to strength but we now need to grow it into a mass membership organisation to reflect all parts of the community. I will continue to work closely with the group as we fight the proposals together.”
