Greg opens new Energy Advice Shop in Bexhill

9 July 2012

Greg opened a new Energy Advice Centre, in Bexhill on Friday 29th June, which will help residents of Hastings and Rother by providing free, impartial advice on the grants which are available – and which will help them save money.

The Energy Advice centre, at 31 Station Road, will be staffed by volunteers and will be open from 10 am to 4 pm daily. The Centre has been set up with the support of Rother District Council, who have provided the premises, and Rother Voluntary Action, who have provided financial support.

In addition, the Energy Advice Centre is hoping to get the message across to the local community by recruiting neighbourhood ‘energy champions’ who will spread the word through schools, community groups, housing associations, sports clubs and parishes

Speaking before the opening Greg said, “I am delighted to be opening this Energy Advice shop in Bexhill. This is an important local initiative which will help people access energy efficiency advice and funding.

The Coalition is committed to helping households, especially low income and vulnerable households, heat their homes at affordable cost. We already have a number of policies and help schemes in place and from later this year the Energy Company Obligation will provide support for fuel poor targeted at those most in need. The introduction of Green Deal to be launched later this year, will help people pay for home energy efficiency improvements through savings on their energy bill.

The Energy Advice shop will be the ideal place for local people in Bexhill and Rother to get free and impartial advice about these schemes that will really make a difference to their fuel bills.”
